Claressefillet

Claresse is a cross between two species: Heterobranchus longifilis x Clarias gariepinus. With this cross we brought some good features of both together. The Claresse is a fish that feels good in our systems because one of the parents already several generations domesticated. By crossing with a wild variety we get a fish with better meat quality white meat with a mild flavor and firm texture.

In the farming the Claresse has a remarkably good feed conversion. This means that with very little food still grows very well. The Claresse is omnivorous, which means that he can utilize both plant and animal proteins. We use this property to continue to develop using the most sustainable sources of protein. The properties of the Claresse and building our systems makes this fish is recommended by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The Claresse is a product for a wide audience throughout the year. It is a fish that can be used in many recipes, as well as a substitute for meat. This is due to its solid structure. The Claresse is ideal for the barbecue or in a salad. Claresse is loved by children, easy and healthy for the elderly, fast for the busy family, and regionally produced, with a low carbon foodprint for the discerning buyer.

Some benefits of the Claresse are that it can be delivered fresh and in the Netherlands within 24 hours of processing at the costumers.

By-products

When we process the Claresse just a certain percentage of the fish can be use for fillets. The rest are products like head, bone, intestines and skin.

The process factory has the ability to separate this by-products so we can separate the rich meat from the bone. Therefore we keep highly rated products left.

Live Fish

Our farm Topaal can also deliver live fish for line-fishing.

During the warm periods the Claresse fish is very suited for fishing outside. It’s a strong and active fish, more than the ‘normal’ African catfish. Also a good replacement for other fish that are getting slower during the warm weather.
